Weezer scored their biggest hit in more than a decade with their cover of Toto’s “Africa.” Yet everyone was still taken aback when the band out of nowhere (and a few weeks prior to releasing a previously announced album of new songs) released a collection of covers in the form of their fifth self-titled record, aka the “Teal Album.”
So what do Matt and Zach think of Weezer’s surprise covers album? Hear what we think in Epic Footnote Productions’ “2 Minutes to Review,” a podcast that’s part album review and part competition. In each episode, both hosts are given two minutes each to review a newly released album, a recent reissue, or a record they’re revisiting after years of going unlistened. Whoever gives the longest review in under two minutes wins.
